Manchester City 1-0 Crystal Palace

Edin Dzeko’s single strike at the Etihad Stadium against Crystal Palace helped Manchester City climb to the top of the Barclays Premier League.

The Bosnian netted the game’s only game for the Citizens who surprisingly struggled to break the Eagles’ defenses throughout the ninety minutes.

Manuel Pellegrini made few changes to the side that beat Liverpool 2-1 in midweek; Alvaro Negredo was placed on the bench in favour of Edin Dzeko while Javi Garcia was given a rare start.

Manchester City have been very impressive in front of goal but on this day they struggled to convert their chances. The absence of star strikers Kun Aguero and Alvaro Negredo was obvious but the Bosnian’s strike was enough to ease the nerves at the Etihad Stadium.

Since his appointment of Tony Pulis, Crystal Palace have managed to notch vital points which saw them climb to 17th in the Barclays Premier League and against the best goalscoring team in Europe they proved how tough and resilient they are.

The Eagles defended very well and gave the hosts some tough times but unfortunately for them Dzeko’s goal condemned them to a narrow defeat.
